Debosmita Sarkar is a Junior Fellow with the SDGs and Inclusive Growth programme at the Centre for New Economic Diplomacy at Observer Research Foundation, India. She holds an MA in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, with specialisations in macroeconomic policy and development studies. In 2021, she was awarded the Global Partnerships Network MA Scholarship. As one of the founding members, Debosmita has been involved in setting up a local chapter of the Rethinking Economics India Network at JNU, geared towards promoting pluralistic economic thinking.
Debosmita’s work encompasses a fusion of academic inquiry and proactive engagement in economic and development discourses. It focuses on three core areas: multilateralism for sustainable development, country or state-level macroeconomic analysis, and gender dynamics of the labour market. Her work has been published as research papers, book chapters, monographs, policy briefs and online articles on various platforms. Debosmita has also been the Research Coordinator for the Think20 (T20) Secretariat under India’s 2023 presidency of the G20.
