The "India Insight Series" will host some of the top policy makers and implementers, from across the country. The series will focus on India's domestic and foreign policy choices, highlighting how they fit into the global economic and political environment. It will feature eminent thinkers from across a wide spectrum of specializations. The featured speakers will be from the government, policy institutions, and the corporate sector.
In this new century, India is looking outwards, and is looking to grow at double digit rates. The fine, fragile balance between financial integration and increased vulnerability to global demand and supply, will make the present decade, a crucial one for the nation to navigate. The policy choices that are made going forward and their genesis, is going to be one of the key themes throughout the "India Insight Series". The Series will strive to achieve a consistent balance between the social welfare questions and the questions addressing the existing and imminent significance of the Indian economy within the larger, evolving global financial architecture.
The Observer Research Foundation is a multidisciplinary, policy think tank based in New Delhi. The Foundation traces its origins closely with the opening up of the Indian economy, when it played a role in moulding the policy discourse within the country's economic thinkers. Much like the early nineties, India once again stands at a crossroads of policy choice; whether to ensure fair equitable growth, or try to outpace some of the other fast emerging economies of the region. The Foundation seeks to study the various facets of this debate, along with contributing to it in a meaningful way.
